The location of the Arctic Fox Igloos on the shores of the lake Ranuanjärvi, right at the edge of the wilderness, makes the Igloos an attractive and highly interesting visitor destination year-round.
Take part on an arctic safari
Sleeping under the star-filled wintry sky, waking up looking at the snowy lakeside scenery, is an unforgettable experience. Winter season you can arrive to the Igloos driving a snowmobile, spending the day on husky-, snowmobile- or reindeer safaris.
Experience Lappish Magic instructed by a Shaman
Visitors seeking for mystic and Lappish magic during the Northern Lights season may participate in the Shaman’s program, where we ask the arctic fox for good luck in our search for Northern Lights.
Entering the waters from your own shore
Summer season offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy to a full the benefits of the Midnight Sun and your sauna in the Igloo. Just a few steps from the door of the Igloo you can hop for a refreshing swim in the lake! For fishing and canoeing trips you may conveniently leave from your own shore.
Photograph the most gorgeous Northern Lights
The Northern Lights season begins as soon as the nights turn dark enough at the end of August. On calm and bright nights during the fall, the Northern Lights reflect beautifully on the surface of the lake. The fall is, in fact, most beneficial for photographing the Northern Lights.
Visit the Arctic Wildlife Park
You can hardly stay in Ranua without visiting and seeing the homes of the authentic arctic foxes, the only polar bears in all of Finland, as well as the homes of the representatives of over 50 other arctic animals. The animals live in huge fencings in the midst of northern woods, in their most natural surroundings. The Park is open every day of the year.

We have an intense cooperation with a local Wildlife Safaris Program Service company. Our visitors have an opportunity to select from an extensive variety of activities year-round, starting from winter’s snowmobile-, husky- and reindeer safaris to guided berry-picking and canoeing outings in the summer. We also offer opportunities to visit and enjoy the local village culture.
